Brean Sands Model Flying week has been held at Unity Farm now for a number of years and the amount of pilots attending has grown every year without fail. The week is organised and run by Darren Goule.

FLYING SITES

There are two ‘power’ flying sites. The first is the beach which enables you to fly all sizes of fixed wing models including jets, plus heli’s too.
This is an absolutely fantastic flying site and despite being a beach is very quiet as we drive way up the beach away from the public.

The other benefit of the beach site are the sand dunes. When any wind is coming straight off the sea they make a great place to slope soar. Any smallish glider will happily fly from the dunes. The norm though is combat models. Great fun!

The second ‘power’ site is a field at the back of the camp. The site is next to a golf course which caused issues last year as the course was being extended and so the flying site had a few of problems with its location and obstructions. Thankfully this year the golf course is finished and the strip has also been moved.                                          see www.breanmodelfestival.com for pics from previous years at field sites

The are also 2 local hills that cater for 3 wind directions for good slop soaring.
